"I MONTAGNARDI" ASSOCIATION was legally set up in 1997 by a group which had been already existing for four years and which opera- tes mainly, but not exclusively, in the mountain part of Pescia's Municipality (Pistoia - Tuscany), known as Pescia's Mountain or even as "Svizzera Pesciatina" (Pescia's Switzerland). "I MONTAGNARDI" ASSOCIATION has the main purpose of safeguarding a fascinating and largely intact environment, of giving more value to a historical and artistic estate which is undoubtly considerable, of keeping alive the memory of ancient, by now nearly estingueshed traditions. "I MONTAGNARDI" ASSOCIATION pursues its aims in quite various ways. Starting from the simple cleaning of some footpaths, as a matter of fact we have arrived at the recovery of an old watermill, at the organization of interna- tional workcamps, at the direct management of an excursion refuge, at the carrying out of an environmental education program for the schools, with some summer camps for lads every year.
